Obedience in TSAU-Centre, Lieto
This was Penni's third and last obedience trial in the novice class. She has now received all the three allowed first prizes in her first three obedience trials. Go Penni!
The trial itself began on time and we were in the first group to perform greeting and group stay (for two minutes). Greeting went smoothly and her performance in stay was exceptional: she obediently held her position despite another competitor's disturbance.
Her heelwork was nearly impeccable. Penni slightly lost correct position when heeling on lead. During heel free, someone blew a whistle which momentarily distracted her but she soon retook her heeling position.
Our moments of desperations came with laying down from heeling: she only stopped to stand! Pity! That cost as 20 points. Later, however, I reasoned that had I given her a double command she might have laid down. This would have cost us only four or six points. So, in the end of the day, she lost four points for us and I lost 16 for being an imbecile. Sorry Penni!
Our stop to stand from heeling, having been practised once already, received full scores. The last two exercises, recall and jump, were average at best. There was some interesting smell on the ground near the jump obstacle and Penni required double call on recall. Maybe she was getting tired and found it difficult to concentrate.
Our scores:
- Greeting (luoksepäästävyys): 10 (factor 1)
- Stay in Group (paikallaan makaaminen): 10 (factor 3)
- Heeling on Lead (seuraaminen kytkettynä): 9.5 (factor 2)
- Heeling Free (seuraaminen taluttimetta): 8.5 (factor 4)
- Laying Down from Heeling (maahanmeno seuraamisen yhteydessä): 0 (factor 2)
- Recall (luoksetulo): 8 (factor 2)
- Stop to Stand from Heeling (seisominen seuraamisen yhteydessä): 10 (factor 2)
- Jump (estehyppy): 9.5 (factor 2)
- Overall Impression (kokonaisvaikutus): 10 (factor 1)
In total: 166 points.
